Zoo & More

Here's some more pictures of my loves, they're so cute it's hard to pick what to put on the blog! :-) Some of the pictures from 6/5 and 6/6 came out really grainy, somehow the incorrect setting got put on and I apologize for the grainy look. You can still see the cuties which is what's important.

It's so funny to notice the differences in the kids already. Alastair loves pacifiers, Karalee never took to them, she liked chewing on them that was about it lol. He loves to be held 24/7, she liked being held but liked her independent time-still does! Even their coloring is different, Alastair has Dana's coloring where as Karalee has mine. I also think Alastair's eyes will be changing, so far Karalee's are still blue and I'm hoping they stay blue! Karalee can sleep with noise, Alastair has to be sound asleep already or it's no go-only time that's not an issue is if I'm holding him on a walk.

On the other hand they have a lot of similarities as well. They both prefer me if their hungry or tired. At Alastair's age Karalee would melt down if I left and poor
Dana would have a wailing kid for as long as I was gone, Alastair does the same thing most of the time.

They're both so smart it just floors me how fast they learn things. Alastair can find you as you're talking and he just watches and watches, so cute! I know they're going to continue blowing me away the older they get. I may have to go back to school with them so I can keep up lol.

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Karalee celebrated her 2nd birthday with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme (he is her favorite after all) and we had a lot of her little buddies come down! She had Cole, Maile, Noah, Hannah, Hayley and of course little Alastair took part as well. She had such a blast opening her gifts and playing with everyone. She did really well opening her gifts with out too much help and was so excited when one would get handed to her. She made less mess this time with her cake-I was a little sad about that I must admit!

We've had a few questions about Alastair's name, we found the name in the baby name book and I fell in love with it so after some prompting on my part the name got to stay. :-) It's also not pronounced the way it looks, it's pronounced "Al uh stir".

Karalee decided to help her dad wash his Mustang after he got from his nap with Alastair. She thought holding the sponge over her face would keep the picture from happening, silly girl ;-)

Goodness where did time go?

I can not believe I've been married 4 years today, that my little man is 2 months old, and that my little girl is 2 years old! How the heck did all that happen so dang fast?!?!?

Dana and I don't have plans set aside for going out to celebrate our anniversary. I think we'll aim to go out next weekend prehaps. He was more on the ball then I and had cards out this morning for me, I thought about them but then didn't stop so I forgot to get any. Bad wife. ;-) I did pick up some this morning so he'll have those tonight.

Alastair is doing great, he still likes to sleep with me more then sleeping in his crib but we are making crib progress. He's started smiling and it's so sweet! Makes my heart feel like it got hugged when he looks up at me and just breaks out that grin. He has an appointment on June 9th so we'll find out how much he weighs and how long he is, I'm excited! Not excited about the shots he'll get but I know they'll keep him healthy. He's already outgrown anything sized Newborn :-( and he can wear some 3 month stuff! He's in size 1 diapers already which just amazes me, I really can not believe how fast little ones grow!

My friend Monica loaned me a wrap called the Moby wrap. It's tricky to get all configured properly but once he's in it he's so happy! It holds him close to me which he loves, I can breast feed him with out taking him out of it which I love and it's comfortable which we both love.

Karalee has just been so great with him. I really lucked out that my kids are so great togther (for now, I know the fights are coming lol). She floors me constantly with how fast she picks up words and she's stringing words together more and more. She still doesn't say drink, she likes to go gmmmp gmmmp (kinda sounds like a swallowing sound) which is odd but hey she's only little once so enjoy not having to say words properly lol. She's growing so fast, I need to measure how tall she is now. Her last weigh in she was still 26 pounds and holding steady. Her new thing is to tap you and have you yell OW which she finds hilarious. She was very proud to pick out some new sandals that are pink, yellow, green, and blue so they go with all her dresses/summer outfits. She likes to tell me who's house we're passing when we go for walks, "Bob and Water" (Bob and Walter), "Monca and Cole" (Monica and Cole), "Sunsine" (Sunshine-her awesome daycare lady). Her uncle's house she usually points and says "Jimmy" since that's what Gregg calls him.

She's loving night time because she gets me all to herself (provided Alastair isn't needing me at the same time). We do bath time, pj's, grab 'blanket' (her Snoopy one, serious hysterics occur if anyone looks or touches her blanket lol) then sit on her bed for a story and "nuggles" (snuggles). Some nights I can't get out of there for an hour and some nights she lets me escape after 20-30 minutes. I do enjoy the "nuggles" with her, she's just a sweetheart.

She did go through a phase a few weeks ago after being sick that melt down occured over EVERYTHING. Drove me crazy. Tantrums I can handle better then melt downs over a simple question. We'd ask her, "do you want juice?" and boom on the floor SCREAMING at the top of her lungs NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! NO!!!!!!! I'm so glad she's given that phase a break. Love her but dang did that phase make my blood pressure about explode and I admit my patience was not where it needed to be to handle it perfectly. I'm only human though right? :-)

She does seem to have more of my personality so I already know I'm in for it. I just hope she's a nicer big sister then I was 'cause my poor brother got pummeled. It's amazing he still talks to me at all and it's more amazing our parents didn't toss us to the wolves lol. I can remember one of my finer moments (ahem) where I literally was crouched in the back of our station wagon on MY side blocking the window because it was MY window so Adam shouldn't look out it. We were both possessive of "our" windows but I clearly remember that one being so over the top it was ridiculous lol. I look back now and think "Good gosh how did my parents keep from leaving me on the side of the road during those fits?!?!" Lol So Thanks Mom and Dad for keeping me around. :-D

Both kids have stuffed closets with clothes so I'm really happy about that! I'll need to get Karalee some more t-shirts and tanks but she's set on jeans and shorts thanks to hand me downs and gifts. Alastair's closet is full of clothes that were hand me downs, gender neutral we had from Karalee and gifts of course. My best friend David has discovered it's way more fun shopping for kids clothes then adult clothes lol. He went all out and I think both kids got like 10+ outfits a piece! Thanks David!!

Dana has been training on commercial buildings as his department is all but extinct with the loss of Chase and no houses really being built etc. Poor guy has been a little bored as it's just very slow at his work which is pretty typical for summer but is also slower because of the economy. He's doing so well there though and they're really trying hard to keep all their employee's.

My job is going well, very stable thankfully. We are slower but not horribly so, I still have plenty to keep my days occupied. My boss is currently out for a few weeks so I have a few puzzles to figure out that had come out while I was gone on maternity leave.

We had to juggle schedules a bit for a couple weeks because Sunshine has a new little one! A little girl so she now has 3 kids of her own to chase as well as all the kids she watches for daycare. I really do not know where she gets the energy! We were lucky this week that between friends and my work being understanding that neither of us missed work. Uncle Gregg watched them Monday, (poor guy got hurt after watching the kids on Monday)they came with me to work on Tuesday since the big bosses were gone and Diane helped me wear out Karalee, Weds my friend Tanya watched them so her little one got worn out playing with my little ones and her older daughter got to make some babysitting money for helping, Thurs they came with me since I was all by myself and today Candice is keeping them, I'm sure her son will keep Karalee running. :-) Next week Dana and I are working half days M-Th so we'll have a lot less stress.

I have some post partum depression going on which really stinks. It's not bad but it does make it hard to feel motivated to keep up on things, which is a big part of why the blog hasn't been touched since April. Sorry everyone, I know you want to be kept up to date and I really do want to keep you in the loop. I just haven't felt like I've got the energy. It's like trying to juggle too many hats and one keeps falling. I have the Mommy hat, the Wife hat, the Employee hat, and then there's the Me hat that I just don't get to put on too often and since blog time is under the Me hat it gets neglected more then I intend. So please understand I do want to keep everyone in the loop because this isn't just an information blog it's a milestone blog I keep for my own personal pleasure of my kids and family.

Pictures will be uploaded later tonight I hope.

Welcome to the world Alastair Nicholas!

I know everyone has been dying to see pictures of Alastair & here they are! I'll save the blabbing for another post as I have one hand free & nap time coming to an end shortly I suspect.

For those that missed the info we had Alastair Nicholas Clark on April 3, 2009 at 3:32 AM. He was 7 pounds 4 1/2 ounces, 19" long. He's got lots of dark hair and is absolutely gorgeous. Big sister has been great with him thus far. Enjoy the pictures & next chance I get I'll blab all the catch-up info & gloating about the kiddo's.
